Editorial policy

The news section covers the legal, tax and administrative news that changes something for a small business, a self-employed worker or a private individual: new rules, deadlines that open or close, the Administration's criteria and data from the courts. We do not publish third-party press releases without checking them, nor paid pieces.

We work from primary sources whenever they exist: the Spanish Official Gazette and the regional gazettes, the notes and decisions of public bodies, official statistics and published judgments. When a fact does not come from a published rule, we check it against at least two independent sources. Every story lists its sources at the foot, with a link.

Current-affairs stories are signed by the Newsroom. Analysis and opinion pieces carry the name of whoever wrote them, and every byline has its own page with a short presentation and everything it has published. Every story shows its publication date and time and, if it was changed afterwards, the time of its last update.

A news story informs; an analysis assesses and says so from the start. We do not mix the two in the same piece.

Iberfácil provides paperwork services and says so openly. That is why the body of a news story carries no calls to hire and no promotions, even when it deals with a matter we work on. Advertising, when there is any, sits outside the news and is labelled as such.

We may use artificial intelligence tools to prepare drafts, summarise documents or translate. No piece is published until a person has reviewed it, checked its sources and approved it.
