Civil Registry: certificates and entries

What is included

  • Requesting full or extract certificates, with apostille if needed
  • Registration, name change or error correction proceedings
  • Following up with the competent Registry

What is included and what is not promised

An error in the Civil Registry — one letter in a surname, a wrongly recorded date — blocks procedures that have nothing to do with it: an inheritance, a nationality file, a pension. It can be corrected, but you have to know by which route.

What it includes: requesting full or extract certificates, with apostille if needed; registration, name change or error correction proceedings; following up with the competent Registry. What it does not include: it does not cover court proceedings on parentage or corrections that require a judgment.

Documents you will need

  • Applicant's ID document or passport.
  • Registry details: volume, page and registry office if known.
  • Documents evidencing the correct data where a correction is sought.

Indicative timing

We answer your enquiry within 1 working day and send the written quote within 2 working days.

Once your documents are complete, we prepare the file between 2 and 6 working days.

A certificate usually arrives within days or a few weeks; a correction or name change takes months.

See the pricing page for how we charge this kind of matter.

How it works

Estimated duration: 6 days.

  1. We identify the exact procedure

We tell you whether you need a certificate or a registration procedure, and before which civil registry to request it.

  2. Document list and quote

We ask for the details of the entry and, for a procedure, the documents that support it. Price agreed.

  3. Filing and receipt

We request the certificate, with an apostille if it goes abroad, or file the procedure with the competent registry.

  4. Tracking and corrections

We follow the request until delivery and tell you if the registry asks for any further document.

What to have at hand

  • Applicant's ID document or passport

Frequently asked questions

I need the certificate apostilled.

We handle that too: it is one more step and it is in the quote.

My surname has always been misspelled.

It is corrected by administrative proceedings where the error can be proved. We look at your documents.

Is the Registry's electronic certificate enough?

For most procedures yes. If a paper full certificate is demanded, we request it that way.
