What being a Registration Authority means
Iberfácil is a Registration Authority for the Víntegris CA, a qualified electronic trust service provider on the Spanish trusted list. That means we are not an intermediary who walks you through applying to somebody else: we are the ones who verify your identity and your powers, handle the application and answer for that verification.
Why this matters
Many people believe only the state mint's certificate counts. It does not work that way, and it is worth understanding why: what makes a certificate valid is being qualified under Regulation (EU) 910/2014 (eIDAS) and being issued by a qualified provider on the trusted list published by the Spanish Ministry for Digital Transformation. Víntegris is on that list. Before the tax office, social security, the traffic authority or any government portal, a qualified Víntegris certificate proves your identity exactly as a mint certificate does.

Identification without travelling

Frequently asked questions
Is a Víntegris certificate as valid as one from the Spanish mint?
Yes. What determines a certificate's validity is not who issues it, but that it is a qualified certificate issued by a qualified trust service provider on the Spanish trusted list. Víntegris is one, as is the mint. Before an authority, both prove your identity to the same extent.
Which rules is that equivalence based on?
Regulation (EU) 910/2014 (eIDAS), as amended by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183, and Spanish Law 6/2020 on electronic trust services. Article 25(2) of eIDAS provides that a qualified electronic signature has legal effect equivalent to a handwritten signature.
Is it accepted on government portals?
Yes. Central government portals validate certificates through the @firma platform, whose list of accepted providers includes Víntegris (vinCAsign). If a particular portal gives you trouble, we help you resolve it.
Does it work for the tax office, social security and the traffic authority?
Yes. Those are the three portals it is used with most. Before we close the service we go into the procedure you needed with you, to check it really works.
What is the practical difference from Cl@ve or the electronic ID card?
Cl@ve is a government identification system, not a certificate you can use outside it. The electronic ID card is a qualified certificate, but it needs a reader and a PIN, and that PIN expires and has to be renewed at a police station machine. A software certificate is installed once and works on both computer and phone.
Do I have to go to an office to be identified?
Normally no. Identification is done by video, a method regulated in Spain by Order ETD/465/2021 (as amended by Order ETD/743/2022), which implements article 7(2) of Law 6/2020. If your particular case requires attendance in person, we tell you before charging anything.
Which certificate types can you issue?
Natural person, professional and self-employed natural person, representative of entities with and without legal personality, company electronic seal, and public employee and administrative body seal certificates for public administrations.
How long does it take?
A natural person certificate usually completes the same day where video identification passes first time. A representative certificate depends on the powers being correctly registered at the Commercial Registry, and that is the step that delays it most.
How long does it last and how is it renewed?
Víntegris issues certificates with a validity of up to four years. We warn you before expiry and handle the renewal. An already expired certificate cannot be renewed: a new one has to be issued, with identification.
I lost the phone with my certificate on it. What now?
Ask for revocation immediately, before anything else: in someone else's hands a certificate can be used to sign in your name. Revocation takes effect at once, and we then issue a new one.
Can it be installed on both phone and computer?
Yes. We help you install it wherever you will use it and explain how to keep a password-protected backup, which is what saves you repeating the whole process if you change device.
What is a Registration Authority and what exactly do you do?
The Certification Authority issues the certificate; the Registration Authority checks that the applicant is who they say they are and holds the powers they claim. We are a Registration Authority for Víntegris: we make that check, handle the application and stay with you until the certificate works.
Does the representative certificate let me sign for my company?
Yes. It is the certificate normally used to act in the entity's name on government portals. Before issuing it we check at the Commercial Registry that your appointment is registered and what powers you hold; if it is not registered, that has to be done first.
Is a representative certificate the same as a company seal?
No. An electronic seal evidences the origin and integrity of documents issued by the entity in automated processes — invoicing, notifications — with no person involved. A representative certificate is used by a specific person to act for the company.
Is it valid elsewhere in the European Union?
A qualified certificate from a provider on a member state's trusted list is recognised in every other member state, under the eIDAS principle of mutual recognition. In practice each foreign portal has its own technical requirements.
