Assign us the debt and stop chasing the debtor

We assess the debt, acquire it by assignment where it fits and claim it in our own name, with formal notice to the debtor.

Debt assignment and collection in our own name

What is included

  • Assessment of how collectable the debt really is
  • Assignment contract and formal notice to the debtor
  • Out-of-court collection in our own name

What is included and what is not promised

Chasing a debtor consumes time and commercial relationships. With an assignment the debt becomes ours: we claim in our own name, with more room to act, and you stop being in the middle.

What it includes: assessment of how collectable the debt really is; assignment contract and formal notice to the debtor; out-of-court collection in our own name. What it does not include: not every debt can or should be assigned: where collectability is low or the debt is disputed we say so and propose another route.

Documents you will need

  • Documents evidencing the debt and its amount.
  • Earlier communications with the debtor.
  • Full identifying details of the debtor.

Indicative timing

We answer your enquiry within 1 working day and send the written quote within 2 working days.

Once your documents are complete, we prepare the file between 3 and 8 working days.

The assignment is formalised within days; collection depends on the debtor’s response and, where relevant, the court calendar.

See the pricing page for how we charge this kind of matter.

How it works

Estimated duration: 8 days.

  1. We read the documents

We assess whether the debt is genuinely collectable: a document that proves it, a traceable debtor and no limitation.

  2. Written demand

We ask for the invoices or the contract, the messages with the debtor and their details. We tell you in writing on what terms we take the assignment.

  3. Negotiation

We sign the assignment contract and formally notify the debtor that the claim is now ours.

  4. Agreement or next route

We claim in our own name, out of court and in court if needed, and settle your share of what is collected.

What to have at hand

  • Documents evidencing the debt and its amount
  • Earlier communications with the debtor
  • Full identifying details of the debtor

Frequently asked questions

Is the debtor’s consent needed?

Not to assign, but they must be notified for it to be effective against them. We do that formally.

What will you pay for the debt?

It depends on age, evidence and the debtor’s solvency. We assess it and give you a figure.

Can I assign a portfolio of bad debts?

Yes, and it is usually the most efficient route. Tell us the volume and average age.
