On 14 April 2026 the Council of Ministers approved Royal Decree 316/2026, opening an extraordinary regularisation for people who were in Spain before 1 January 2026, could evidence five months' continuous stay and had no criminal record. Applications opened on 16 April and closed on 30 June 2026, with no extension. If you filed, the file is live and what matters now is answering properly. If you did not, the way out is another route, and there are several.
What it includes: following up a filed application and answering requests for correction; appealing a refusal, where it has merit and within the deadline; assessing the alternative route where no application was filed: residence on social grounds, international protection or another permit. What it does not include: we cannot file out of time: the date was set by the royal decree and could not be extended. What we can do is find the route that is still open.
